DEATH CLAIMS LIFELONG RESIDENT YORKTOWN - Funeral services were held on Monday for John Buda, 81, lifelong resident of the Yorktown community who died suddenly Saturday, July 30, 1955, at 6:00 o'clock p.m. at his home. Mr Burda had been about his business as usual during the day and had been in town in the afternoon. His sudden passing, which is believed to have been caused by a heart attack, proved a profound shock to his family circle and friends. Rosary was recited by Rev B.C. Kaminski of Holy Cross Catholic Church Sunday night in the Mollenhauer Chapel. Services in Holy Cross Catholic Church and at the graveside Monday morning were conducted by Rev Kaminski, assisted by Rev Edward Dworaczyk. Pallbearers were Pete Jablonski, S.C. Bednorz, Frank Mitura, Jim Ledwig, John Guzy, and Tom Jondrezey. John Burda was born in Yorktown on May 12, 1874. He was the last surviving of five children born to the late Frank Burda and his wife, Anna Burda nee Sovik. On November 9, 1897, he was united in matrimony with Miss Francess Bock. Eight children were born to the union, one of whom, Ladis J. Burda, preceded his father to the grave. Surviving are his wife, five daughters, two sons, 16 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother and three sisters. He had attained the age of 81 years, two months, and 18 days. Mr Burda was a devout Catholic and contributed much to the welfare of his church. A devoted husband, a loving father, a kind and considerate friend, and a good citizen has gone to his reward. The memory of his deep devotion and many kind deeds will always be cherished by his loved ones. (CONTRIBUTED BY FIND A GRAVE MEMBER #48868652)
