Graveside services for Verna Newman, age 81 of Jasper, Texas will be 11am Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at Sanders Cemetery in Jasper. Verna died at her home Saturday, March 16, 2013. A native and life long resident of Jasper, she was a member of the Beech Grove Baptist Church. A 1949 graduate of Jasper High School, a loving wife and mother who worked many years as an inspector in the Poultry Industry. A friend to everyone, her favorite activities were playing with her grand and great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, William David Newman. Survivors include her husband of 65 years, William "Bill" Newman, her son Mitchel Newman and wife Debbie of Jasper, her daughter Vickie Toal and husband Tom of Orange, Texas, brother-in-law Buddy Newman of Jasper, grandchildren, Prissy Leonard, Willie "Bubba" Newman, Nella Newman Hines and Kim Toal and great grandchildren Fancy Hollis, Lacy Hollis, Samantha Moake and Katie Newman. Services are under the direction of Stringer & Griffin Funeral
