Bio

Runaway Bay ~ Roy Dennis Dick, 83, a retired professor, went to be with our Lord Friday, March 15, 2013 in Bridgeport. Funeral is 11:00 a.m. Monday at Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel. Family will receive friends 3-5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. A second service is 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Bethel Mennonite Church in Hydro, Oklahoma with burial in Bethel Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Monday at Lockstone Funeral Home in Weatherford, Oklahoma. Rev. David Rucker and Derek Blackman will officiate and Rev. Bob Springer will officiate at the second service. Pallbearers for first service include David Porter, Dylan Porter, Michael Porter, Don Porter, Steven Porter, and George Jasper. Pallbearers for second service include Chase Hawkins, Dennis Dick, Everett Baker, John Dick, Keith Kimble, Mark Randol, Jason Baker, Dick Hampton, and Tom Byram. Roy was born on January 25, 1930 to John and Helena (Thiessen) Dick in Weatherford, Oklahoma. He served his country in the U.S. Army. Roy was united in marriage to Virginia Porter on March 25, 1967 in Stillwater, Oklahoma. He was a retired professor and then worked as a nursing home administrator. Roy was a member of the Bethel Mennonite Church in Hydro, Oklahoma and an associate member of the United Methodist Church in Bridgeport. He was also a member of the Education Foundation in Bridgeport. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Art, Elmer, John, and Carl Dick; his sister, Gertrude Dick. Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 45 years, Virginia Dick of Runaway Bay; his son, Jeff Chandler and wife Julie of Noble, Oklahoma; his daughter, Denise Caviness and husband Coy of Runaway Bay; his grandchildren, Jessica Chandler, Randee Hawkins and husband Chase, Leighton Kennec, and Cole Caviness; his sisters, Opal H. Crall and husband Lamar of Hinton, Oklahoma and Frieda Randol of Custer City, Oklahoma; other family members and a host of friends.
