CHARLES LEE JESTER Lee Jester was born September 17, 1871, the grandson of the first settler, Hampton McKinney and the second child of C. W. and Eliza (Rakestraw) Jester. He was educated in Staunton Military Academy of Virginia and the University of Texas law school. He married Belle Fish. During his term of office, contract for the present courthouse was let and the building was completed about eight months later. A Prohibition election was held in December 1904 and the County was voted dry. A member of the law firm of Davis, Jester, Tarver and George, he was a prominent lawyer. He was a cousin of Governor Beauford H. Jester, was an active Methodist, a member of Masonic Bodies, and an authority on Navarro County history. died Nov. 25, 1942 and is buried in Oakwood Cemetery, Corsicana.
