Bio
Mrs. Herbert Bierhaus, formerly Miss Elizabeth Vandergrift of this locality died Monday night, June 5, at her home at Franklin, Nebraska, a few hours following the birth of a baby daughter. Funeral services were held Wednesday at the Congregational church at Franklin. Those from this locality who attended the funeral were Mrs. O. J. Keller and Charles, Mr. and Mrs. John Gee, Mrs. Margaret Semple, Mr. and Mrs. Will Semple, and Mr. and Mrs. John Semple. Besides her husband, Herbert, and little Joan, she leaves three brothers and two sisters: Evans C. Vandegrift, Dannebrog, Howard of Franklin; Neva Weissbaum, Grand Island; Letha Bahensky, Palmer; and Robert Dale Vandegrift of Central City. Beth's mother died when she was but a baby, after which her father married Bertha Semple. As a result of this union these children were blessed with a home and a lady in whose heart was the true spirit of mother love, of which Mrs. Bierhouse expressed again and again her appreciation and thankfulness for all she did for them. Mrs. Bierhous' father, living now at Gering, was not able to get to Franklin in time for the funeral. The Palmer Journal, June 14, 1934, page 1, transcribed by Linda Berney
