m: 4 Nov 1875 in Colusa Co, CA The Spokesman-Review Spokane, Washington · Friday, October 21, 1927 LINCOLN PIONEER IS BURIED Funeral of J. G. Wolfe Held at Almira-Came West in 1867. ALMIRA, Wash., Oct. 20.-The funeral of J. G. Wolfe, retired farmer and miller, who died at his home Tuesday, was held from the Congregational church today, the Rev. J. L. Parringer, assisted by the Rev. Charles Milne of Spokane, officiating. Mr. Wolfe, 85, was born in Evansborough, Ohio, and was a Civil war veteran. He came west to San Francisco in 1867, sailing from New York to Panama. He married Alice D. Hodgen in Colusa, Cal., 1875, came to the Big Bend in 1882 and settled on a farm north of Almira. In 1910 he gave up active farm life moved to Almira, where he built and operated the Wolfe Roller and Feed mills for about 10 years. Two years ago Mr. and Mrs. Wolfe celebrated their golden wedding. Surviving are his wife, two sons, Bertram of Grandview and Delmar of California, and one daughter, Mrs. Elva Short of Almira. Military honors were given by the local Potter Doyle post.
