The body of Henry Muller, 42, well-to-do farmer, living 4 miles west and one and a half south of Creighton, was found hanging in the hay mow of the barn of his farm early Sunday morning. No motive for the suicide could be found. The body was discovered by Mrs. Muller, who, becoming alarmed, when her husband did not return after leaving the house about 3 a.m., arose and investigated. A lariat rope about 35 feet long had been doubled, tucked through the opening between a horizontal brace and roof of the barn. With one of the free ends about his neck, Muller apparently stepped off a low pile of lumber in the barn. He is survived by the widow and four children, Shirley, Gail, Robert and Leo, three brothers and three sisters. Henry J. Muller was born Jan. 27, 1902 at Winside and died on May 28, 1944 at his home west of Creighton at the age of 42 years, four months and one day. On June 2,1931 he was married to Frieda Siercks and to this union four children were born. They lived for a time near Verdigre and then moved to Creighton nine years ago, where he died. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 1 p.m. at the house and at 1:15 at Federated church, Rev. G. Basil Anderson officiating. Burial was made in Greenwood cemetery. ...The Creighton News 1 June 1944
