Bio

VAN ALSTYNE - Funeral services for Robert Lee Veazey, 87, were held at 2:30 p.m. Monday in the First Baptist Church of Van Alstyne. Mr. Veazey died at 8:30 a.m. Sunday in a Sherman hospital. Rev. J.I. Gregory and Rev. James Coffey conducted the services. Burial was in Van Alstyne Cemetery, directed by Flesher Funeral Home. Mr. Veazey was born in Texas, Dec. 10, 1879, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Lyman Veazey. He was married to Miss Florrie Howle. She died in 1951. He was a hardware merchant for many years in Van Alstyne and served as a deacon in the First Baptist Church for a number of years. Survivors include two sons, Raymond D. Veazey of Houston and Robert Veazey of Van Alstyne: four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
