Bio
Mary Frances Dorsey, a happy, loving, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, friend and Christian, died in her home Sunday morning, January 30, 2022. Born on March 21, 1934, in Byers, Texas, to Clifford and Opal Maness Odom. She married Willard, the love of her life, on June 24, 1950, at the age of 16. They were happily married for 66 years until Willard passed away in 2017. Mary was a housewife and faithfully supported the family business, Dorsey Forklift, that was run from their home. She made lunch from scratch every day for all the employees, which were her husband, 2 sons and daughter with an occasional grandkid…. all the grandkids during the summer! She loved to cook and bake and was notorious for not writing any recipes down but just knew when it looked "right"! Mary loved traveling with Willard. They had a group they traveled with for many years known as the "U Bunch". She loved being in their motorhome and on their pontoon boat just enjoying time with the people she loved. She loved to sew and crochet. She enjoyed making crochet blankets for all her friends and family. She liked playing cards and dominoes and was very involved in her church family. Mary is preceded in death by the love of her life, Willard, her parents, Mr. & Mrs. Clifford Odom, three brothers, one sister, and her sons, Larry Dorsey and Steve Dorsey. She is survived by her daughter, Janice Bennett and husband Pete of Wichita Falls; grandchildren, Kyle Dorsey and wife Stephanie of Wichita Falls, Kane Dorsey and wife Amanda of Holliday, Amy Hughes and husband Chad of Holliday, Tim Bragg and wife Courtni of Peaster, Texas, Garrisyn Dorsey of Sherman, Texas, Katrina Feeley of Sherman, Texas, Candice Aultman of Sherman, Texas, and DeeDra Hoke of Sherman, Texas; sixteen great-grandchildren; brothers, Delbert Odom of Burleson, and Jesse Odom of Wichita Falls; sisters, Nelda Tuggle of Wichita Falls, Doris Bartosh of Wichita Falls, and Carolyn Howard of Wichita Falls; daughter-in-law, Becky Hargrove and Kerry of Wichita Falls; and countless cousins, nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to Wichita East Volunteer Fire Department and Anchor Baptist Church. The family will receive friends between 1 and 2 p.m. Saturday, February 5, 2022 with funeral services beginning at 2:00 p.m. at Anchor Baptist Church in Wichita Falls with Tim Bragg, officiating. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Byers, Texas under the direction of Owens & Brumley Funeral Home in Wichita Falls.
