Bio

Services for Woodrow Elmer Marek, 79, of Temple will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple. Burial will be in Seaton Cemetery. Mr. Marek died Tuesday, Feb. 19, in a local hospital. He was born on March 12, 1933, to Joe and Tracy Simek Marek in Bell County. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He attended Seton Brethren Church. On Dec. 26, 1956, he married Gladys Naivar in Temple. He had been a chairman of the board for SPJST Lodge No. 47 Seaton; vice president of RVOS No. 5; was the director of Seaton Cemetery; and Temple VFW. He was preceded in death by his wife in January 2012. Survivors include two sons, Leonard Marek of Temple and Royce Marek of Houston; two brothers, Eugene Skrabanek and Milton Skrabanek, both of Caldwell; two sisters, Evelyn Henning of Temple and Josephine Conway of College Station; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
