Bio
Gladys M. Naivar Marek was born on January 5, 1933 to Edward and Della Hejl Naivar in Bartlett, Texas. On December 26, 1956, she married Woodrow Marek in Temple. She moved to Temple in the mid 50's and worked with Naivar-Marek Laundromats until the company sold in 1973. She later went to work in the canteen at the Veterans Administration in Temple and retired after 17 years of service. After retirement she was Financial Secretary for SPJST Lodge #47 for many years. Gladys also served as kitchen chairman and bar chairman at the lodge. She was a voting judge for Precinct # 304 were elections where held in the family lodge. Mrs. Marek enjoyed working in her flower garden, quilting, crocheting and raising different types of peppers. She loved cooking for her family and special events. She was a member of the Ladies Auxillary, SPJST Lodge #47 and WFLA. She is survived by two sons; Leonard Marek and wife, Doris of Temple; Royce Marek, Houston. One brother; James Naivar, Temple. Three grandchildren; Jenny, Julia and Amanda; four great- grandchildren; Jason Marek, Casie Riffle, Avery Magana, Ethan Magana.
