Bio

Funeral services for Vernon LeRoy Comer, 59, were held at the Methodist church in Lisbon Oct. 25. Burial was in the Lisbon cemetery. Mr. Comer died Oct. 22. The son of William R. and Bertha Fay Murphy Comer, he was born at Selma and was educated in the rural schools of the area at the Selma consolidated school. He came to Cedar County in 1936. He was married to Lois Jane Crocker Nov. 23, 1940. Mr. Comer farmed in Cedar and Linn counties before moving to Stanwood in 1948 where he was self-employed in custom baling and in trucking. Later he was employed at St. Luke's hospital and Coe College, Cedar Rapids. He was employed at Kirkwood Community College when he became ill in 1972.
