Bio

Jesse was born in Bristol, Ellis County, Texas. But soon after he was born, the family moved to Dallas in either 1887 or 1888. Acts 11:24 Mr. JESSE MONROE GRAY was born in Bristol, Texas, but except for a brief period, he was a lifelong resident of Dallas. Following completion of his high school work, he attended Berea College in Berea, Kentucky. There he met Miss Mahala Day and the two were married in Norton, Virginia in 1910. After a short time, the Grays returned to Dallas. Mr. Gray was self employed in the upholstery business until his retirement twenty-five years ago. Mr. Gray joined First Presbyterian Church in 1923 and was a long time member of the Men's Bible Class. He was ordained a Ruling Elder of this church in 1933 and became Elder Emeritus in 1957. Mr. Gray is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mahala Gray, and a grandson, Mr. Jack D. Gray. Pallbearers include: Mr. Roy Brown, Mr. Robert Brown, Mr. George Brown and Mr. Aubrey Gray, all nephews; and Mr. Gillespie Brown, a cousin. The service will conclude at Oakland Cemetery.
