Bio

Clarence Tuttle was born August 7, 1919 in Cushing, the son of Arthur and Elna Tuttle. Clarence and six other children were born to this marriage: Lloyd, Vern, Donald, Bud Tuttle, Ruth Morrison, and Bess Jensen. He died at Bryan Memorial Hospital in Lincoln on December 26, 1989 at the age of 70. Clarence was baptized at Bethlehem Lutheran Church by the Rev. C.W. Long on December 28, 1956 and was confirmed December 30, 1956. He attended grade and high school at Marquette and attended Grand Island Business College. He married Hulene Wilkens at the Methodist Church in Marquette on October 7, 1951. The couple had four children: Sandra, Harold, Danny, and Timothy. Following his education, Clarence moved from Marquette to Crete. He was in the Army in World War II, inducted on March 20, 1942 and given an honorable discharge October 24, 1945 as a technical sergeant. He was also an amateur radio operator for 50 years. He is survived by his wife, Hulene; daughter, Sandi Meinke of Crete; sons, Harold and wife, Bonnie of Longmont, Colorado; and Tim of Lincoln; four granddaughters; two grandsons; brothers, Vern of Blair, Buddy of Aurora, and Donald of Marquette; mother-in-law, Ruth Wilkens of LaJunta, Colorado; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Lloyd Tuttle; sisters, Ruth Morrison and Bess Jensen; son, Danny, and son-in-law, Mervin Meinke. Memorial services were held December 28, 1989 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Crete with the Rev. Jerome Rossow officiating. Organist was Jeannie Becker.
