V. C. Parker Dead After Brief Illness- V. C. Parker, foreman of the county truck gang died yesterday afternoon at Edge and the funeral was held this afternoon at 4 o'clock at the Parker school house, the interment taking place at the cemetery there. Mr. Parker died of pneumonia. He was ill with a cold when he went to visit his little son, whom he had boarding with a family at Edge, with the intention of spending the weekend with him. Before the time came for him to return to town and his work he was compelled to take to his bed and never left it. Mr. Parker was born In this county the son of Mr. and Mrs. N. R. Parker. who survive him. He was 38 years of age, had been married. but his wife died a few years ago, leaving him with the young son. He was a very exemplary man, one of the kind who counted every man his friend upon whom he would call without hesitation and upon whom calls could be made with equal freedom. He seemed to have no desire to accumulate wealth, but was wrapped up in machinery being a natural born mechanic, as much gifted in that line as any poet in his. Hence. he was highly esteemed by all the members of the county commissioners and by everybody else who knew him. i The county and the community have suffered a loss it will he hard to refill. Mr. Parker was a member of the Woodmen of the World. April 9, 1918 Bryan Eagle. jE Contributor: John Clay Ellisor -
