Bio

Elmer Grady Rone, 82, retired Gorman farmer, died at 5:45 p.m. Tuesday in Eastland Manor Nursing Home in Eastland after a long illness. Funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday in Higginbotham Chapel in Gorman. The Rev. Charles L. Whittom, pastor of the First Church of God in Eastland, will officiate, assisted by the Rev. Robert Bowden of Abilene. Burial will be in Gorman Cemetery. Born July 1, 1890, In Arkansas, he married Mittie Hopper in 1909. She died in 1923. He married Ida Bohannon in 1928. She died in 1972. Mr. Rone was a member of the Church of God. Survivors are five sons, O.B. of Gorman, Leland of Colorado, R.H. of Fort Worth, Wayne of Gorman and Burgess of California; a daughter, Mrs. Otis Jordan of Eastland; 18 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sons. Pallbearers will be Corky Brown, Graydon Baze, Speck Clark, James Miears, John Rice, and Gabe Wright. Printed in Abilene Reporter-News, March 29, 1973, Page 25.
