Grand Island (Nebraska) Independent Monday, March 28, 1983 Ned Arnold, 81, of 3115 E. Seedling Mile died unexpectedly Saturday at a local hospital. Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Christ Lutheran Church. The Rev. Jerome Enderle will officiate. Burial will be in Grand Island Cemetery. (Other funeral arrangements omitted here) Mr. Arnold was born Sept. 19, 1901, at Bloomfield, the son of William and Mary Belina Arnold. He grew up and received his education in the Norfolk area. He married Margaret Filter on Sept. 25, 1921, at Norfolk. They came to Grand Island in 1937 and operated the Canteen Vending Co. until his retirement. He was a charter member of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, a member of the Cosmopolitan Club and Wally Byam Caravan. Survivors include his widow; two sons, Melvin and Clifford, both of Grand Island; a daughter, Mrs. Gordon (Phyllis) Synhorst of Lincoln; 10 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Seth, Lloyd and Newton, all of California, and three sisters, Mrs. Bessie Schaefer of Norfolk, Mrs. Dalsy Hipp of Las Vegas, Nev., and Mrs. Mabel Redmond of Cour d'Alene, Idaho. He was preceded in death by a son, Reuben, in 1944, and a great-grandson.
