Bio

Sarah Wiedman, 92, of Watertown, SD passed away on Thursday, November 22, 2012 at a care center in Watertown. She was the widow of Reinhold Wiedman. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at St. Martin's Lutheran Church in Watertown. Rev. Paul Janke will officiate. Music will be provided by Karen Livingston as organist with Sharon Renner as soloist. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Watertown. Pallbearers will be Sarah's grandchildren: Scott Wiedman, Craig Wiedman, Marco DiCarlo, Elisa DiCarlo, Adam Wiedman, and Alex Wiedman. Visitation will be at the Crawford Funeral Chapel in Watertown on Monday from 4-7 p.m. and will continue at the church on Tuesday prior to the services. Sarah was born on April 28, 1920, in Butte, NE to Christian and Kathryn (Hofer) Fuhrer. She grew up in Butte, NE. On October 7, 1941, she married Reinhold Wiedman in Valentine, NE. The couple lived on a farm near Winner, SD. Later, they moved into Winner and then moved to Watertown, SD in 1978. Sarah ran a day care in her home for many years. Her faith was important to her. She was a member of St. Martin's Lutheran Church where she attended Monday Morning Bible Study. She enjoyed canning, especially pickles, baking, and having her grandchildren decorate cookies for the holidays. Sarah loved serving Friday noon meals for anyone who wanted to come. She also enjoyed her flower gardens as well as collecting coffee cups of which she had a large collection. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren. She is survived by her children: LaVern (Barb) Wiedman, Kathy DiCarlo, and Don (Deb) Wiedman all of Watertown, SD; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one sister, Clara Gartske of Watertown, SD. Sarah was preceded in death by her husband in 1998, and her son Ronald.
