Bio

Grand Island Independent, Friday, September 16, 1921 DEATH RESULTS FROM KICK BY A HORSE Master Leonard Lucas, of Litchfield, nine years of age, died at the St. Francis hospital early Wednesday, as a result of being kicked by a horse while assisting his father in harvesting potatoes. The little fellow was nearby when some potatoes rolled under the team. The horses were generally quiet and the little fellow crawled under them to recover the potatoes when one of the animals became frightened and kicked. The skull had been fractured to the base line and around to a point below the ear. The boy was hurried to Grand Island. An emergency operation was undertaken but the injury was too severe a one and the unfortunate had passed away without regaining consciousness.
