Obituary published in the Herald Coaster on Wed., 21 May 2003. Herald Coaster, May 31, 2003: Funeral services for Lloyd Adolph Zwahr, age 74, of Needville, are scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday, May 23, 2003, at Immanuel United Church of Christ in Needville with the Rev. Fred Banda officiating. Burial will follow in the Needville Public Cemetery. Mr. Zwahr's grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday May 22, 2003, at the Garmany & Carden Funeral Chapel in Needville. Mr. Zwahr died Wednesday, May 21, 2003, at Kateland Square Geriatric Center in Richmond. He was born July 22, 1928 in Needville to parents, Adolph and Lidia Meyer Zwahr. He was a farmer in Needville for over 50 years. He served on the Needville ISD School Board for 12 years. He was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ and served on the church consistory. He also served as secretary of the National Farmers Organization, was a board member of the Farmer's Gin and Grain Dryer Association of Needville, and was a past president of the Texas Farmer's Union. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Annette Zwahr, of Needville; four sons, Charles Zwahr and wife Mary Ann; Daniel Zwahr; Richard Zwahr and wife Joyce; David Zwahr and wife Victoria, all of Needville; grandchildren, Jason and wife Stacey; Scott; Brandon, Corey, Trent, Christopher, Landon, and Lauren Zwahr; stepsisters, Lydia Kelley and husband Carl, of Palestine; Bessie Helen Heitmann of Richmond; Eldora White and husband Paul, of Austin; Virginia Lee Volarik and husband George, of Damon; Lois Macha of Damon; and Cora Lee Zwahr of Guy; stepbrother, Archie Parker and wife Joan, of Rosenberg; and numerous nieces and nephews, and cousins. Lloyd Adolph Zwahr, 74, of Needville died Wednesday, May 21, 2003 in Richmond. Services are pending with Garmany & Carden Funeral Directors, Inc. 3103 School St, in Needville, 979-973-4515.
