Born in the village of Bratrice, county of Caslov, Bohemia, Austrian Empire (now in the Czech Republic). Brother of John Marusak (#101283513). Married Mary Prochaska. Emigrated to the United States in 1864. The passenger list for the ship Adolphine , which left Bremen, Germany and arrived in Baltimore, Maryland on September 5, 1864 includes the following family from Bohemia: W. Maruschak, 27, mason; M. (female), 26; J. (male), 2; and M. (female), one month. According to the 1880 census he was 45 years old, born Bohemia, and farmed in Linwood Precinct, Butler County, Nebr. with his wife and eight children. His probate file (which calls him Wencel Marushak) states he died intestate on July 7, 1898 leaving the following heirs: Marie (widow) and children J. J., Joseph, Frank, Chas., Annie Johannes, Julia, Anton, Louis, Emma, and Mary A. Kroupa (Butler County probate file #1170).
