Bio

Ovena Velmarie Dyson passed away at her home Thursday, Nov. 15, 2012, after a lengthy illness. Funeral: 2 p.m. Monday at Bean-Massey-Burge Funeral Home Chapel-Dalworth in Grand Prairie with Pastor Clark Wheeler officiating. Burial will follow in Southland Memorial Park in Grand Prairie. Visitation: 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday Bean-Massey-Burge Funeral Home-Dalworth in Grand Prairie. Velma was born on June 23, 1928, in Moody to Roy and Pearl Gilchrest of Gatesville. She married Othel "Simon" Dyson in 1946. They were married for 50 years. He preceded her in death in 1995. Survivors: Daughters, Brenda Rosser of Grand Prairie, Carolyn Weinman of Fort Worth and Janice Barnes of Apopka, Fla.; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
