Bio

Annie Kersteina Vilhelmsen Larsen was born on May 7, 1857 in Dalby, Odense, Denmark to Rasmus and Vilhellimme Fredricksen Larsen. Her family joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in 1863. In April 1864, they went from Denmark to Liverpool, England. The Larsen family immigrated to the United States on board the ship, Monarch of the Seas, which arrived in New York City on June 3, 1864. The family traveled in Captain William B. Preston's pioneer company which arrived in Salt Lake City, Utah on September 15, 1864. Annie and her sister, Eva, walked across the plains from Nebraska to Salt Lake City. Her family settled in Hyrum, Utah. Annie married Jens Lauritzen on May 11, 1874 in the Endowment House in Salt Lake City, Utah. They had ten children: Heber, Erastus, Christine, Annie, Rasmine, James, Orson, George, Johannah and John. Annie was a good cook and mother. She loved to make sugar from sugar cane and always gave the candy-like skimmings to her children. In her later years, Annie lived across the street to the east of her son, Heber, and his family. In about 1928, she became ill with dropsy. Heber and Stella helped care for her. Jim, another son, lived with her and the three of them gave her loving care until she passed away on December 16, 1929. She had been a good mother and had loved her ten children and all of her grandchildren very much. Annie was buried in the Hyrum Cemetery beside her husband and three children, Rasmine, Erastus, and George who had preceded her in death.
