Born in house #31, Budiskovice, the daughter of Frank Kominek and his wife Appolina (but her marriage record names her parents as John and Katherine (Karpisek) Kominek). Sister of Antonie (Kominek) Karpisek . The passenger list for the SS Ohio , which arrived in Baltimore, Maryland from Bremen, Germany on November 7, 1874 lists Franziska Kominek (age 27), Franz Karpicheck (41), Antonia (32), Johanna (7), Josef (5), and Anton (11 months), all from Moravia, destination Nebraska. Married Frank Tomanek on February 6, 1877 at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Abie, Nebr. ''''''''''''''''' People's Banner (David City, Nebr.), September 27, 1917, p. 4, col. 3 & 4 LINWOOD Died: - Mrs. Francis Tomanek was born in Moravia in 1848. She came to this country at the age of twenty-four. Soon after was married to Frank Tomanek. To this union were born ten children, seven of whom are living. Her husband preceded her to the better world sixteen years ago. The living children are Jennie and Christie, Mrs. Ella Walla of Cedar Rapids, Iowa [ sic ], Ludvik of Cedar Rapids, James of Omaha, Frank of Hamil, South Dakota, and Louis of Point Rock, South Dakota. Mrs. Tomasek was a good mother, a kind neighbor and a devout member of the Catholic Church. Funeral services will be held at the Catholic church Wednesday forenoon and interment will be in the Linwood Hill Cemetery. The sympathies of the community are with the sorrowing family.
