Military history - WWII - Army Thanks to Tom Waters for the following: From Moberly Monitor-Index, 1-29-1997 EARL L. BROCKMAN Earl L. Brockman, 73, Moberly, died at 3:10 a.m. on Jan. 28, 1997, at Columbia Regional Hospital in Columbia. Mr. Brockman was born May 20, 1923. in Huntsville. He was the son of the late Grover and Anna F. Spicer Brockman. He retired from the John Deere Manufacturing Co., in Waterloo, Iowa. He was a veteran of WWII and a member of the North Park Baptist Church. He moved to Moberly five years ago from Centralia. Preceding him in death are: his wife, Betty L. Brockman, who died June 22, 1989; two sisters and brothers; one step grand-daughter. Mr. Brockman is survived by: a son and daughter-in-law, Dale and Sue Brockman of Paris; two daughters and a son-in-law, Connie and Bill Backman of Marshalltown, Iowa, and Laurette Brockman of Moberly; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Jake and June Brockman of Moberly, Larry and Mary Brockman of Columbia; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Ruby and Junior Tipton of St. Louis and Betty Alexander of Moberly; four grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, one great-grandson, three step-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Thursday, 2 p.m. at Million-Taylor-Patton Funeral Home of Moberly, Rev. Howard Smith will officate. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, 6-8 p.m., at the funeral home.
