Bio

Funeral services for Adela Martha Cernoch Hudec, 89, of Rosenberg, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 26, 2012, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 1416 George St. in Rosenberg. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Rosenberg. Father Daniel L. Warden will officiate the services. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m., with a rosary at 7 p.m., Wednesday, July 25, 2012, at Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Chapel in Rosenberg. Adela was born August 19, 1922 in Weimar to Vincent and Jenovefa (Krecmer) Cernoch. She attended school in the Wildwood Community along with her 4 sisters and 2 brothers. She married Edwin Hudec on October 18, 1943. They lived in Weimar and were sharecroppers until they moved to Rosenberg in 1957 with their 3 children. She worked for Lamar Consolidated School District as a cafeteria cook and later manager once she earned her high school equivalency diploma. She was very proud of this accomplishment, as was her family. She and her husband always had a vegetable and flower garden and this continued after her retirement. She canned the vegetables and would share the canned goods with family. She also did her fair share of baking — cakes, kolaches, and best of all were her oatmeal cookies. Her favorite pastime was attending local bingo games with friends. She moved to Cambridge in September 2005. Adela passed away July 22, 2012 in Rosenberg. She is preceded in death by her husband, Edwin Hudec; parents, Vincent and Jenovefa Cernoch; and 3 sisters and 2 brothers. Adela is survived by her daughters, Frances Lycka (C.J.) and Gladys Dibala (Thomas); son, Dennis Hudec (Jeannette); grandchildren, Philip Lycka (Deana), Angela Hammond (Pat), Charles Dibala (Lisa), William Dibala (Jodi), Andrew Dibala, Amanda Fauver (Mike), Allison Reed (David), Ashley McAnally (Jason); 15 great-grandchildren and 4 great great-grandchildren; sisters, Lillie Vornsand and Hattie Kamas; along with other relatives and friends. Serving as pallbearers will be her grandchildren. The family of Adela wishes a heart felt thank you to the staff of Cambridge Assisted Living Facility and Gulf Coast Hospice for the care and compassion given to our mother. For those wishing, memorials in Adela's name may be made to your charity of choice. Words of condolence may be left for the Hudec family at www.davisgreenlawnfh.com.
