Bio

Elmer's parents are Charles Tool and Corrilla Anna Wood, from Iowa and Indiana, respectively. His known siblings are Luella May and Marvin Dennis Tool. (Note - While in Canada he changed is name to O'Toole. Named at birth - Elmer William Ollin Tool.) OBITUARY: Appeared in unkown newspaper, have clipping from that paper. --RELATIVES HERE GET NOTICE OF DEATH OF ELMER O'TOOL-- Word was received here by Sarah M. Tool of the death of her brother-in-law, Elmer Allin O'Tool in Tacoma, Wash. Friday, August 23, 1957. He had been in ill health the past several years and death was attributed to a stroke. He was born and raised on a farm northeast of Monroe but went to Canada where he met and married Mary Elizabeth Leslie February 27, 1922. His address was 1902 South Jay Street, Tacoma, Wash. While living in Canada he changed his name from Tool to O'Toole. Surviving are eight children; Mrs. Orville O'Neil, Mrs. Ed Graisey, Howard, Mrs. Arthur Trine, Mrs. Vern Woztanowiez, Danny, Pat, and Tom. His son Dennis; His mother, Corrilla; his father C.W. Tool, his sister Luella May; and his brother, Marvin D.C. preceded him in death. Flora Tool and Ida Wood of Monroe are aunts. 2nd Obit: Former Monroe Resident dies; Funeral services for Elmer O'Toole, 74, former Monroe resident were held today at Tacoma, Wash. Burial was also at Tacoma. Mr. O'Toole died Friday at his home after suffering a stroke. Mr. O'Toole, the brother-in-law of Mrs. Sarah Tool of Monroe, left Monroe and went to Canada approximently 50 years ago. While living in Canada he changed his name from Tool to O'Toole. He was married in Canada to Mary Elizabeth Leslie. He moved from Canada to Tacoma, Washington several years ago. Mr. O'Toole is survived by his wife and eight children. Also surviving are two Aunts, Miss Flora Tool and Mrs. Ida Woods, both of Monroe. He was preceded in death by a son, Dennis; his parents; a brother, Marvin; and a sister, May. He was born Aug. 22, 1883.
