VIRGINIA ALICE BRADHAM was the daughter of Daniel MacKloud Bradham and Mary Ann Cooper. She was married to:MARDIS L. MILES Their children were: Minnie, Lizzie, Charlie, Pearl, Bama Estelle, George Washington, James Walter, Alexander, Joseph Lee, LULA DELVINA (LOU),Willie Wansley,ADELLA (DELLA) MARY and Henry Miles NOTE: It is said that Virginia Bradham and her husband, Mardis Miles and her broher Willie came to Texas with the Miles family by ox wagon. There were some eighteen families who left Mississippi in the wagon train but only nine survived the trek. The family homesteaded land between Dotson and Caledonia, Texas in Shelby County. The Childs family was one that survived the hardships of the wagon train and there were several intermarriages with the family of Mary Ann Cooper. East Texas was not the haven they had imagined and many times there were regrets about leaving Mississippi. Like so many other fighting the hardships of the Civil War's aftermath, they had hoped to buy cheap land in Texas and make good crops, but the land they found was not as productive as they were led to believe and the found life hard
