Obituary courtesy of Voss Funeral Service: Phyllis Hurley, 79, of Seymour, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 9, 2012, at IU Health Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis, IN. Born April 4, 1933 in Jennings County she was the daughter of Elmer Roy and Lenora Emma (Holmes) Austin. Phyllis retired from Contel where she was a telephone operator supervisor. She was a graduate of Paris Crossing High School in 1951.She attended Brownstown First Baptist Church where she sang in the choir. She was also active in Leona Missionary Circle and Friends of the Library. She is survived by her children: Steven Myers, Dennis (Lorna) Myers, Mischell (Jim) Ferguson, and Monika (Mark) Foxworthy; nine grandchildren: Jimmy (Heather) Ferguson, Michael (Sarah) Ferguson, Leah (Andy) Lynch, Sarah (Tyler) Hodson, Mary (Collin) Gruver, Amy Baker, Stephanie Maschino, Jessica Myers, and Heather Myers; 12 great grandchildren; and her brother Jesse (Ruby) Austin. Phyllis is preceded in death by her parents, daughter Cathy "Denise" Maschino, and her brothers Vernon (Gene) Austin and Glen Austin. Funeral services will be held at Brownstown First Baptist Church on Saturday October 13, 2012 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Scott Erwin officiating. Friends may call at Voss Chapel on Friday October 12, 2012 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM and Saturday at the Church from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Burial will take place at Vernon Cemetery with a Voss Dove Release. In Lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials be given to Brownstown First Baptist Church Choir.
