Born September 14, 1848 in Domašov #41, town of Ivancice, county of Brno, Moravia, Austrian Empire (now in Czechia) and baptized September 15, the son of Jan Ustohal and his wife Maria Drápalová. Ustohal, Father of Mrs. Fred Faytinger, Passed On. Joseph V. Ustohal, of Linwood, father of Mrs. Fred Faytinger, passed away at the home of his daughter in David City at 4:45 o'clock Sunday morning, June 2, after an illness of thee weeks from a complication of diseases. He was brought to the Faytinger home from Linwood for care two weeks prior to his death, and was bedfast from that time. Funeral services were held at 9:30 o'clock Wednesday morning, June 4, at the Catholic church in Linwood, conducted by Rev. Father Meljnek. The pallbearers were members of the K. C. D. lodge. Burial was in the Linwood Catholic cemetery. Mr. Ustohal was in his 83rd year. He was born in Czechoslvakia September 13, 1846, grew to young manhood in that country and was married there 59 years ago to Frances Ruzicka. Ten years after their marriage they came to America and located in Butler county, living on a farm near Linwood until retiring from active farm life and moving to Linwood 20 years ago. Six children, four sons and two daughters, were born to Mr. and Mrs. Ustohal, all of whom survive. They are Frank Ustohal of Linwood, Joseph J. Ustohal, Julius and Anton Ustohal of Hemingford, Mrs. Fred Plotz of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Mrs. Fred Faytinger of David City. Mrs. Ustohal passed away seven years ago. All of the children were with their father for a visit on Sunday, May 26, and all were present at theh funeral. Mr. Ustohal was a faithful member of the Catholic church. He was also a member of the M. W. A. and K. C. D. lodges.
