OBITUARY: Pocahontas Record Democrat, Pocahontas, Iowa, Wednesday, 21 July, 2004, pg. 4 Robert J. Kordik Pocahontas - Robert J. Kordik, age 72, died on July 7, 2004, at his home near Pocahontas, Iowa. Funeral services were 9:30 a.m. at Resurrection of Our Lord Catholic Church, Pocahontas, Iowa, with Fr. Merle Koliasch officiating. Interment was at Calvary Cemetery, Pocahontas, Iowa. Robert Joseph Kordik was born on February 5, 1932, in Valley County, near Elyria, Nebraska. He was the son of Stanley and Emma (Petska) Kordik. Bob graduated from Sacred Heart High School in Pocahontas in 1950. He served in the U.S. Navy from May 1951 until May 1955. After his discharge, he returned to Pocahontas to farm with his father. On July 28, 1962, Bob married Kay Fogerty at Our Lady of Good Council Church in Fonda. The couple has made their home on their farm west of Pocahontas since their marriage. Survivors include his wife: Kay, children Joan (Craig) Kramer of LaVista, Neb., and Robert Kordik, Jr., his fiancee Jill Weldeman and her son Cody of Pocahontas, brothers Kenneth (Patsy) Kordik of Aptos, Calif.; and James (Deanna) Kordik of Lincoln, Neb.; sister, Ann Ollinger of Cedar Rapids and several nieces and nephews.
