Name: Comela Williams Date: August 3rd, 1920 - October 10th, 2012 Obituary: Funeral services for Mrs. Comela Williams, 92, of Carthage, Texas will be 2:00 p.m., Sunday, October, 14, 2012 at Southside Baptist Church with Bro. Kevin Cook and Rev. Kirby Hill officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Bethel Cemetery under the direction of Hawthorn Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. Saturday night at the funeral home. Mrs. Williams died Wednesday, October 10, 2012 in Carthage, Texas. Mrs. Comela Mae Hayes Williams was born August 3, 1920 in Panola County, Texas. She was the fifth of six children born to the marriage of Robert and Lena Minter Hayes. "Mel", as she was known by her family, was raised and schooled in rural Buncomb. She married Robert Harold Williams, who preceded her in death in 1980 after over 40 years of marriage. Mrs. Williams worked at the Ben Franklin and the Four-D Grocery Stores. She was a longtime member of Southside Baptist Church where she sang with the Golden Heirs. Mel loved to crochet, but the joy of her life was spending time with her kids, grandkids and great grandkids. She is also preceded in death by her brothers, Clifford, Willard, T.M. "Shorty" and Jack Hayes; sister, Gladys Ritter; granddaughter, Debbie White and a step son, Robert Williams, Jr. Mrs. Williams is survived by her loving daughter, Billie Jean Soape of Carthage, grandchildren; Donna Crenshaw and husband Kelton of Carthage, Dana McKinney and husband Larry of Tyler, David Soape of Carthage; great grandchildren, Cory White, Clint White, Jacob Blissett, Kolby Blissett, Phillip McKinney, Adam McKinney, Emily McKinney, Blake Soape, Shelby Soape, and Cassidy Soape. Her great grandsons will be serving as pallbearers. The family suggests memorials be made to Southside Baptist Church or Mt. Bethel Cemetery Assoc. Memorials: Southside Baptist Church or Mt.
