Bio

Funeral services for T. M. "Shorty" Hayes, 70, of Carthage, were Thursday at Jimerson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. L. K. Brashier and the Rev. Leroy Anderson officiating. Interment followed at Restland Memorial Park. Hayes died April 28 at his home following a long illness. Born October 17, 1910, he was a life-long resident of Panola County. He was retired from oil field work and was a member of Freewill Baptist Church of Beckville. Survivors include his wife, Bessie B. Hayes; sons James Kenneth Hayes of Shepherd, Bobby Ray Hayes and Martin Franklin Hayes of Conroe; daughters Shirley Ann Williams of Carthage and Barbara Jean Williams of Calhoun, La.; a brother, G. Jack Hayes of Carthage; sisters Gladys Ritter and Cornela Williams, both of Carthage; 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Troy Godwin, Howard Heard, Buddy Ashby, Ralph Edge, Elbert Nations, Dennis Chamness and Dennis Nations. Published in The Panola Watchman, May 3, 1981
