E.J. "Elden" Smolik, 87 E.J. "Elden" Smolik, 87, of Arizona passed away August 30, 2012, in Kingman, AZ. Mr. Smolik was cremated. A Graveside Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 20, 2012, at the Ord Bohemian Cemetery in Ord, Nebraska. Father Mark Maresh will officiate. Military Honors will be provided by Ord VFW Post #7029 and American Legion Post #38. Memorials are suggested to the Family's Choice. Ord Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Elden Joseph Smolik was born March 19, 1925, at Comstock, Nebraska to Frank J. and Anna (Fajmon) Smolik. He was raised in Valley County where he attended District #29 School and graduated from Ord High School in 1943. In July of 1943, Elden entered the United States Army. He served during World War II as a Surgical Technician and was discharged in April of 1946. Following the service he moved to Wyoming where he worked in the Oil Fields. Elden then worked on many construction projects in the Western US. In the early 1980's he settled in Arizona where he made his home until his passing. Survivors include a brother, LeRoy Smolik of Omaha, NE; two sisters, Wilma Johnstone of Elizabeth, CO and Dolores Kuta of Grand Island, NE; and numerous nieces and nephews.
