Bio

Daughter of Vaclav and Lenora (Pelanek) Navratil. Married (1) Frank Nabity in Bohemia. Emigrated to the United States in 1890. The passenger list for the ship Columbia , which left Hamburg, Germany on July 3, 1890 and arrived in New York City on July 11, 1890 includes the following family (all from Popovice, Bohemia): Franz Nabity, age 35 years, farmer; his wife Maria, 29; daughter Anna, 5; son Jan, 3; father Josef, 68, farmer; and mother Maria, 68. Married (2) Frank Brabec on August 18, 1913 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Brainard, Nebr. Married (3) John Nabity (her first husband's brother) in 1924. PASSES Mrs. John Nabity Sr., a former resident of Brainard, died at her home in Bee on Thursday, July 12. She had been in failing health for the past two years her ilness becoming serious only a few days prior to her passing. Mrs. Nabity was born in Czechoslovakia on November 17, 1860. She grew to womanhood there and was united in marriage to Frank Nabity, they coming to America in 1890 and settling at Loma. They later came to Brainard where Mr. Nabity passed away in 1895. They were parents of five children, four surviving them, Mrs. Anna Navratil of Bee, John F. Nabity of David City, Miss Frances Nabity of Hastings and Frank J. Nabity of Omaha. One daughter died in childhood. Mrs. Nabity also leaves her second husband, John Nabity Sr., to whom she was married in 1924, twelve grand children and three great grand children. Funeral services were held at St. Wenceslaus Catholic church in Bee on Saturday morning, where short services were conducted by Rev. A. A. Huebech, and burial was in the Brainard Catholic cemetery by Rt. Rev. Msgr. A. J. Klein. Mrs. Nabity was a devout Catholic lady and a member of the Bohemian Roman Catholic Central Union society. Folks from a distance in attendane at the funeral were Frank Janky Sr., Mr. and Mrs. Frank Janky Jr. and family, and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Janky and family of Chapman; Mr. and Mrs. Ludvik Nabity and family of St. Paul, Nebr., and F. J. Nabity of Omaha. Pall bearers were Joe Andely, Frank Pavel, Joe Vondra, Raymond Navratil, Frank Janky and Donald Nabity. _______ CARD OF THANKS We are grateful to our many friends for their kindness during our recent bereavement, and we wish to thank those who contributed to the floral offerings and for the spiritual bouquets.
