Born in the village of Kutabudice, town of Dacice, county of Jihlava, Moravia, Austrian Empire (now in the Czech Republic). ''''''''''' The Peoples Banner (David City, Nebr.), January 14, 1937, p. 3, col. 4 & 5 OBITUARY Anton Svoboda Friends were grieved to learn of the sudden death of Anton Svoboda, Brainard's oldest citizen, who passed away Thursday evening, January 7th, at the age of 94 years and 8 months at his home in Brainard. He was born in Moravia, Europe. In the year 1873, he united in marriage to which union were born three children, one son, Frank and two daughters, Mrs. Frank Horacek and Mrs. Jacob Horacek. His son Frank and his wife preceded him in death about 20 years ago. In the year 1876 Mr. and Mrs. Svoboda came to America, settling on a farm near Appleton, later moving on a farm north of Brainard and later moving to town in Brainard, where he resided for the past 20 years until his death. Funeral services were held Sunday, January 10th, from the home of his granddaughter, Mrs. Joe Prai and the remains were taken to the Holy Trinity church with the Rt. Rev. Msgr. A. J. Klein in charge. Interment was in the Brainard Catholic cemetery. He leaves to mourn, his two daughters, Mrs. Jacob Horacek of Brainard and Mrs. Frank Horacek, of Los Angeles, Calif.; 12 grandchildren and several great grand children and many friends and relatives who will miss him. Pallbearers were Joe Prai and son Richard, Joe Dufek and son Franklin, Joe Svoboda and Charles Divis.
