Son of Jakob Svoboda and Ursula Slaby. He married Rosalia Stejskal (daughter of Pavel Stejskal and Rosalia Chocholousek) on November 14, 1820 in Chotebudice, Moravia. 11 children were born to this union: Katherina(1821-1855), Frantisek(1823-1918), Mathias(1825-1904), Josefa(1827), Frantiska(1829-1901), Joseph(1832-1832), Maria(1834), Rosalia(1836), John(1839), Antonin(1842-1937) and Antonia(1846-1851)
