William Zabloudil Funeral services were Sept. 14 for William 'Bill' Zabloudil, 77 of Boelus who died Sept. 10, 1996 at the St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island. Burial was in the Ord City Cemetery with military rites by the Boelus American Legion Post #201. Mr. Zabloudil was born Sept. 10, 1919, on a farm between Ericson and Burwell to John and Mary (Polak) Zabloudil. He was educated in Ericson and graduated from Ericson High School in 1939. He later served in the U.S. Army with the 209th Antiaircraft Artillery Automatic Weapons Battalion in the East Indies, New Guinea and the Philippines between July 1941 and March 1945. On Nov. 5, 1946 he married Verna Vergin in Ord. They had met at a dance in North Loup. He had worked in the sheet metal industry throughout his life. He had lived in Grand island for 35 years and moved to Boelus 5 years ago. Survivors include his wife Verna of Boelus, three daughters, Virginia O'Hara of Sweet Home, Ore., Donna McCulloch of Castle Rock, Colo., and Janet Svoboda of Boelus; seven grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Mary Rysavy and Lydia Lane; six brothers, Frank, Joe, Ed, Rudolph, Steven and George; and one granddaughter, Darcy Svoboda.
