Mrs. Pratten, Longtime Resident Here, Passes Mrs. Maud Pratten, a longtime resident of Creighton, died Nov. 29 at the age of 91 at Pershing Hospital in Grand Island. She had made her home in the Soldiers and Sailors Home at Grand Island since 1956, except for winter which spent with her children in California. Funeral services were conducted at the First Methodist Church in Creighton Monday morning with the Rev. David T. Gustafson, pastor, officiating. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery. Pallbearers were Earl Breece, James Breece, Leo Hammling, Joe Manion, Charles Neyens and Harold Randall. Maud Bissell was born Feb. 14, 1872 in Cedar Rapids, Ia., daughter of Don and Julia Bissell. At the age of seven years she moved with her parents to a homestead west of Creighton. She moved to Creighton in 1888 and lived in the same house for 68 years. She married James H. Pratten on Nov. 5, 1905. Three children were born to them. Her husband preceded her in death on May 29, 1943. Mrs. Pratten was a member of the Creighton Methodist Church, Ladies Aid, Rebekah Lodge and the Queen Esther Club. Surviving are her daughters, Mrs. Ruth Purdy and Mrs. Elta Trusdale of San Diego, Calif. and her son, James W. Pratten of Ventura, Calif.; four grandchildren and four great grandchildren. ...The Creighton News 5 Dec 1963
