Married Aug 20 1942 Loup City, Sherman, NE ---------------------------------------- Friday Services For Clara Kokes Clara Kokes, 71, of Ord died early Tuesday morning, February 7, 1984, shortly after arriving at the Valley County Hospital in Ord, Nebraska where she had been rushed from her home by the rescue unit. Clara was born August 18, 1912 in Geranium Township in Valley county, Nebraska, the daughter of Charles and Sophie Koziol Silver. She grew up near Loup City, and received her education in Sherman County. On August 24, 1942, she married Rudolf Kokes at Loup City. Mrs. Kokes, whose husband was a Nebraska State Senator from 1965-1973, was president of the Unicameral Ladies Club and a member of the Legislative Ladies League. She was past president of the St. Wenceslaus Parish Altar Society of Geranium, a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish Altar Society, and American Legion and Ord Hospital Auxiliaries. She was also a God Star Mother and an Ord Matron. Survivors include her husband; two sons, Ron of Fresno, CA and Reggie of Casper, WY; one daughter, Ruth Bamford of Spring Hill, FL; five grandchildren; and four brothers, Henry Silver of Cameron, MO, Leonard Silver of Kearney, Floyd Silver of Grand Island and Edmund Silver of St. Paul, MN. She was preceded in death by a son [sic-stepson], Harold. Services were held February 10, 1984 and burial was in the Ord Catholic Cemetery. The Ord Quiz - Thur, Feb 16 1984
