Bio

James Lane McKean died peacefully in his sleep at LDS Hospital on March 27, 1994. He was born December 3, 1915 to Theodore Lane and Nina Burnham McKean and lived his entire life in Rose Park. Though ill as a young boy, he fought tenaciously throughout life and lived a full 78 years. Married Velma Kresser, April 29, 1943 in Salt Lake LDS Temple. He attended LDS High School and worked for Deseret News Press (Church Printing Services) for 30 years. His quick wit and humor were a blessing to all who knew him. Jim loved to cook and "over feed" his family and friends. He was an avid golfer and was know affectionately as "The Whip". He gathered family and friends around him to share his love of music.Survived by: wife; six children: Margaret (Brent) Strong; James (Patricia) McKean; Barbara (Michael) Jones; Don (Joan) McKean; Mark (Annelee) McKean; Tom (JoAnn) McKean; 23 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. The family expresses deep appreciation to his personal doctors and the staff of Applegate & Home Solution who extended his life three more precious years. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 30th, at 11 a.m. in the Rose Park 2nd Ward Chapel (760 No. 1200 West) Salt Lake City. Friends may call at the Russon Brothers Mortuary (255 So. 200 East) Tuesday 6-9 p.m. and at the church, Wednesday, 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment: Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park 3401 So. Highland Drive. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to The Parkinsons Research, c/o Jack Fitts, 785 Three Fountains Circle, #26, Murray, Utah. 84107.
