Funeral service for Mrs. Ima Ruth Burkes Pitts, 74, of Nacogdoches, Texas will be held on Sunday, October 7, 2012, at 2:00 PM Laird Funeral Home with Bro. Waylon Brown and Bro. Mike Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Concord Cemetery in Mt. Enterprise. Mrs. Pitts was born on August 9, 1938, in Concord, Texas to the late John Henry Burkes and Lola McQuagge Burkes. She passed away peacefully on October 4, 2012, in Nacogdoches. Ima was raised in Concord, Texas. She graduated from Mt. Enterprise, Texas. She adored her grandchildren and children, loved to fish, play dominos, read the newspaper, but the funnies had to be read first. Ima retired from Walmart where she had worked as a clerk and door greeter for many years. She loved her job and all the associates she worked with daily. Ima was a no- nonsense classy lady who would tell you how she felt in a heartbeat. Because of her wonderful personality she made many, many, friends, both young and old. All who knew Ima will miss her tremendously. She is survived by her sons, Jack Shane Pitts and wife, Stella of Joint Base Louis McChord in Tacoma, Washington and Jerry Wayne Pitts and wife Cheri of San Antonio, Texas; her three daughters, Debra Dailey and husband, Edward of Chireno, Texas, Donna Rodrigues of Crockett, Texas and Susan Moore of San Antonio, Texas; one brother, Norman Burkes of White, Georgia; her sister, Hope Goings of King City, Florida; as well as numerous nieces and nephews and other extended family and great friends. Addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Chester Durwood Pitts; two sons, Chester Joe Pitts and John Walter Pitts; and three sisters, Mavie Kaut, Yvonne Morrison and Toylee Tinkle. Pallbearers will be Joseph Pitts, John Moore, Tom Gaston, Wayne Griffin, Bertdale Tinkle and Cody Tinkle. Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 6, 2012, from 6 to 8 PM at Laird Funeral Home. Memorial contributions can be made, in her name, to an Alzheimer, Cancer, or Parkinson's charity of your choice.
