Obituary: OTTAWA - Mr. Leroy Kubelka, 77, of rural Ottawa (Serena Township), died early Tuesday morning, Jan. 26, at his home. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Harding United Methodist Church with the Rev. Cynthia Zolk officiating. Burial will be in West Serena Cemetery where military flag-folding services will be conducted. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Mueller Funeral Home in Ottawa and one hour prior to the services at the church Saturday. Leroy was born Feb. 25, 1932, in Huntsville, Texas, to Joseph and Annie R. (Marek) Kubelka. He married Barbara A. Leiter on March 16, 1957, in Sedalia, Mo. He was an Air Force veteran of the Korea War. He was a guidance counselor and an assistant to the superintendent at the Sheridan Correctional Center for more than 30 years. He was a liturgist and usher at Harding United Methodist Church and he served on the school board for Serena Schools District No. 2 for eight years. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Barbara; two sons, Stephan (Carolyn) Kubelka of Peotone and Jason (Susan) Kubelka of Oswego; two daughters, Rachel (Carl) Meyer of St. Helena, Calif., and Laura Kubelka of Chicago; and three grandchildren, Claire, Leland and Dean. He was preceded in death by his parents. Pallbearers will be Dan and Dillon Mason, Dan Leiter, Kent Butterfield, Randy Rosengren and Norman Alsvig.
