Bio

A resident of Chico for the past 44 years, Clark was born August 25, 1915 to Murray and Edith Imhoff in Highland Park, Calif. He died Monday September 6, 2004, at the age of 89, of natural causes at his cabin on the Truckee River after a day of fishing and winning at cards. He served in the US Navy in World War II and was a self-employed building contractor. Clarks' mother Edith, died from the Spanish flu in 1918 when he was three years old. He and his older bother, Hunter, were raised from ages six and eight, until high school at the Paige Military Academy and boarding school in Los Angeles. His father and stepmother rarely visited and the boys were not allowed to come home, even in summer. Instead, they were "shipped off" in the summertime to a Catalina Island children's barracks. He thought of his childhood as homeless. When other children played, he marched! His saving grace was his brother, Hunter who he said was the only parent he ever had. Not so in his adult life. He married Lorraine Tucker and became the quintessential family man. He opened his arms and heart to all of Lorraine's family, as well as his brother Hunter's. He worked as hard as he played. He included everyone who was willing. He lived his whole life with a positive attitude that was felt by all who knew him. He built hundreds of homes and commercial buildings throughout California. Survived by his sister, Sandra Killian of Arcadia, Calif.; sister-in-law Ester Imhoff of Plano, Texas; children, Darrall and Sue Imhoff of Eugene, Oregon, Douglas and Joan Imhoff of Chico, Ron and Barbara Imhoff of Chico, Dave and Christine (Imhoff) West of Chico; 12 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be at Brusie Funeral Home, Friday 5-8 pm. Services will be at Glen Oaks Memorial Cemetery Saturday at 3 pm. Donations may be made to the "Danny Imhoff Memorial Scholarship" c/o North Valley Community Foundation, 891-1150. Published in Chico Enterprise-Record on September 9, 2004.
