Bio

LOVE, IRA J.—Ira J. Love was born March 17, 1871, at Reboathe, Harrison County, Ind. To Leonard E. and Martha E. Love, the sixth in a family of 12 children. He departed this life August 29, 1950, at the age of 79 years, 5 months and 12 days at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Kiester, in Geneva, Neb. May 17, 1897, he was united in marriage to Nora Belle McCashland at the home of the bride’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. B. C. McCashland, near Grafton, Neb. Rev. O. W. Fifer of Geneva officiated. To this union two daughters Mildred M. Kiester and Ethel G. Love, were born. His wife preceded him in death on November 2, 1936. He is survived by his two daughters, Mrs. Kiester of Geneva, and Ethel of Washington, D. C.; a granddaughter, Ethel Kiester; on-in-law, Robert M. Kiester; two brothers, Elzie of Denver, Col., and Porter of Delta, Col.; four sisters, Stacie A. Cox of Denver, Col., Theresa D. Oliver of Teaneck, N. J., Mrs. M. E. LeMieux and Rilda B. Love of Delta, Col. Four brothers, George, Jesse, Lowry and Edward and one sister, Emma, preceded him in death. At the age of 13 years, Ira and his family came to Nebraska, residing at Waco, Sidney and Grafton. After his marriage, he and his wife went to Denver, Col., where they made their home until 1910, when they moved to Nebraska, where he spent the remainder of his life. He enjoyed life to the fullest, and was greatly loved and respected by his family and all who knew him. For a number of years, Mr. Love has made his home with the Kiester’s. He greatly enjoyed outdoor work and the lawn and garden at his home always showed special care. Death came very suddenly and was due to a heart attack. Funeral services were held at the Hrubesky-Farmer Funeral Home in Geneva at 2:30 p.m., Friday, September 1st, Rev. Ben F. Wallace officiating. Music was by a quartet, Wallace Swanson, Vaughn Fulton, C. M. Humphrey and Ralph Reemts. Mrs. Willard Foster was accompanist. Pallbearers were G. A. Bumgardner, W. A. Domeier, Pet Garrett, Mike Oberlander, George Taylor and C. J. Warner. Interment was in the Geneva Cemetery. The Nebraska Signal September 7th, 1950 page 1.
