Born in the village of Bacice, town of Hrotovice, county of Znojmo, Moravia, Austrian Empire (now in the Czech Republic). Birth date provided by Cynthia Duris Hirst (# 48592204). ____________ People's Banner (David City, Nebr.), March 29, 1900, p. 8, col. 3 BRUNO Jacob Pelan, has given to the Bruno Catholic Church 3 acres of land one and one half mile west of town, the land is to be used for Catholic Cemetery. ____________ Butler County Press (David City, Nebr.), January 29, 1925, p. 1, col. 7 Jacob Pelan Passed Away. Bruno, Jan. 26 – Jacob Pelan died at the home of his son, Frank Pelan, on Tuesday, Jan. 20, at the age of 81 years. The funeral services were held Thursday morning at St. Anthony's church in Bruno and were conducted by Rev. Father Bauer. Interment was in the Catholic cemetery, beside the grave of Mr. Pelan's wife, who died several years ago. The land for the cemetery was a gift from Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Pelan to the Catholic parish of Bruno about 25 years ago. Mr. Pelan is survived by three sons, Frank, John and Joseph,and one daughter, Mrs. Frank Semin.
