The birth date inscribed on her gravestone contradicts the date in her obituary. '''''''' The Brainard Clipper (Brainard, Nebr.), January 29, 1925, p. 1, col. 5 MRS. FRANK GOTTSCHIM, SR. Barbara Kalicek was born October 28, 1874 in Moravia, where she grew to womanhood and was united in marriage to Frank Gottschim. They became parents of three sons, Frank Jr., Charles and Otto, and one daughter, May, who together with their father survive her. In June 1902 the family immigrated to America, coming to Bruno, where Mr. Gottschim was employed section laborer and well digger until five years ago when they commenced farming. For the past three years they lived on the Schulz farm 3 miles south of Brainard and last year Mr. Gottschim bought a pool hall in Bruno and has been conducting same, while his wife and sons Charles and Otto, and daughter remained on the farm. Some time ago a calf bumped into Mrs. Gottschim, knocking her down and injuring her, but the incident was soon forgotten and she was apparently enjoying the best of health until Saturday, Jan 17th when she commenced suffering with a violent headache which continued until Monday evening when she began to lose consciousness and the doctor called stated that she was suffering from injured kidneys. She passed away at 2:30 in the afternoon Tuesday, Jan. 20th. Funeral services were held from the Catholic church at Bruno last Thursday and burial was in the Bruno Catholic cemetery. Besides her husband and children deceased leaves one brother and three sisters living in Europe. ______ CARD OF THANKS We wish to thank all kind neighbors, friends and relatives who assisted in any way at time of death and burial of our dear wife and mother also fro the many lovely flowers. '''''''''''''''''''''' Butler County Press (David City, Nebr.), January 29, 1925, p. 1, col. 5 Mrs. Frank Gottschim, Sr., Died Bruno, Jan. 26 – Mrs. Frank Gottschim, Sr., passed away Tuesday, Jan. 20, at the home of her sons, three miles south of Brainard, after a short illness. The body was brought to Bruno Wednesday, to her husband's home, and funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock at St. Anthony's church, Rev. Father Bauer conducting the services Interment was in the Catholic cemetery. Mr. Gottschim, Sr., moved to Bruno several months ago. He is in business in Bruno. Mrs. Gottschim remained on the farm with her children, Carl, Otto and Mary. The family later decided to discontinue farming, and Mrs. Gottschim had planned on coming to Bruno as soon as they had disposed of their farming property. Mrs. Gottschim was highly respected by all who knew her.
