Gottschim, 84, of Eugene, Ore., formerly of Bruno, were held Wednesday, Nov. 16, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Eugene with the Rev. Emil Kies officiating. Mr. Gottschim died Nov. 14. Burial was in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Charles Gottschim, the son of Frank and Barbara Gottschim, was born Nov. 8, 1899 in Austria. When Charles was nine years old, the family came to the United States and settled on a farm near Bruno. He was engaged in farming for many years before he moved to Bruno, where he went into business as a cash buyer of poultry, eggs and cream. On April 16, 1929, he was united in marriage to Helen Markitan of Bruno. Two children were born to this union. In 1936 he and his family moved to Eugene, Ore. He was employed by the U.S. Plywood Corp. until his retirement. Survivors include his wife, Helen; a son, Robert of Vancouver, Wash.; a daughter, Mrs. Francis (Eileen) Swanson of Beaverton, Ore.; a sister, Mrs. Marie Trainor of Brainard; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Frank and Otto.
