ObituaryJohn H. MathisHolly, Colorado (C-SJ) - Funeral services for John H. Mathis, 73, will be 2 p.m. Sunday at the First Methodist Church. Rev. W.E. Tyler and Rev. Evan Brian will officiate. Burial will be in the Holly cemetery under the direction of Carmain Funeral Home. Mathis died Thursday morning in a Denver hospital. He was born Aug. 21, 1890, at Bethany, MO (wrong info he was born at Pawnee, Harrison, Missouri). He moved to Beaver, Okla., with his parents in 1905 and came to Holly in 1928. He married Alta Cooper, Balco, Oklahoma in 1912. She died in 1954. In 1958 he and Betty Welty were married at Clayton, NM. Besides his widow, he is survived by sons, Ernest, Holly; Floyd, Reseda, Calif.; Marion, Lamar; and daughters, Mrs. Viola Flint and Mrs. Loetta Cline, both of Holly; Mrs. Myrtle McCabe, Higgens, Tex.; Mrs. Aubrey Alberts, Ft. Morgan, CO; Mrs. Lula Hartley, Security; 31 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, a brother and a sister.
