J. VIDLAK DIED APRIL 9. Abie Man Passed Away in an Omaha Hospital. Abie, April 15 - V. J. Vidlak, resident of Abie and vicinity from boyhood, died in St. Joseph's hospital in Omaha on Wednesday, April 9, at 4:00 p. m. He had undergone a surgical operation there some days previous. He was in his 61st year. Mr. Vidlak was born in Vrtestice, Czechoslovakia, and came to American with his parents when four years old. The Vidlak family settled on a farm six miles northwest of Abie, where Mr. Vidlak grew to manhood. He was married to Miss Fannie Simond, of Abie vicinity. They lived on a farm for some years and then moved to Abie, where Mr. Vidlak engaged in the meat market business and later did carpenter work. He was a member of Abie bands for several years, and was a member of the Abie Concert Band at the time of his death. To Mr. and Mrs. Vidlak were born five children, two daughters and three sons. One daughter Mrs. John (Josie) Misek, died four years ago. Mrs. Vidlak preceded Mr. Vidlak in death several years ago. Mr. Vidlak is survived by three sons, Frank J. Vidlak of Clarkson and James and Otto Vidlak, living near Abie, and one daughter, Mrs. Jake (Rose) Kripal of Omaha, and by seven grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Lucy Schutt, of Columbus, and one brother, Joseph Vidlak, of Lincoln. The funeral of Mr. Vidlak was held Saturday afternoon, April 12, from the home of his son, James, to Ss. Peter's and Paul's church. The pallbearers were Joe Vidlak, a nephew, T. B. Semrad, J. J. Semrad, H. B. Semrad, L. H. Semrad and C. G. Semrad. Burial was in the Catholic cemetery. Mrs. Kripal, the daughter, was not able to attend the funeral on account of illness. In attendance at the funeral from elsewhere were Mr. and Mrs. F. J. Vidlak and children, Frank, Jr., and Joan, from Columbus, Joseph J. Vidlak and Mrs. Edward Vidlak and children, Helen and Edward, Jr., from Lincoln, Joe Vidlak and Josephine Yechout of Omaha, John Misek from Kansas, James Misek and daughter, Anna from from Wilber, Mrs. Anna Karel, Joseph R. Karel, Anna M. Karel, Mrs. Adolph Molacek, Emil Folda and J. M. Mundil from Clarkson, Mr. and Mrs. James Jakub of Edholm, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Sloup of Morse Bluff and Mr. and Mrs. John Parolek of Schuyler.
